📖 About the Keyboard Counter
The APluscalc Keyboard & Spacebar Counter tracks every keystroke in real-time as you type in the input zone. It breaks down your keystrokes by category — letters, numbers, spacebar, backspace, and Enter — and shows a visual history of your most recent keys.
The Spacebar Speed Test is a dedicated benchmark for measuring how fast you can press the spacebar. Choose a timed mode (5s, 10s, 15s, or 30s) or use free mode. The tool tracks total presses and your average presses per second.
🎯 Common Uses

❓ FAQ's
Why isn't the keyboard counter counting my keystrokes?
You must click inside the grey text box first to give it focus — then every key you press will be counted. If you click outside the box, the counter pauses until you click back inside. This is intentional so only intentional keystrokes are counted.
Does the spacebar counter work on mobile?
Yes. On mobile, tap the spacebar zone to focus it, then tap the spacebar on your on-screen keyboard. The counter registers each tap. For the best mobile spacebar test experience, use a physical Bluetooth keyboard.
What is a good spacebar speed?
An average person presses the spacebar 5–7 times per second in a short burst. Skilled typists and gamers reach 8–12 per second. The world record for spacebar presses in one second is approximately 14.2, achieved using a high-speed gaming keyboard.
Can I use this to test my mechanical keyboard?
Absolutely. The keystroke counter is excellent for testing mechanical keyboard switches. Type in the zone and compare total keystrokes vs. characters registered. You can also test actuation feel by pressing single keys and watching the real-time key visualiser.
Does it count Shift, Ctrl, Alt key presses?
Modifier keys (Shift, Ctrl, Alt, Cmd) are counted in the total key counter. However, they are not broken out into a separate category — they show up in the 'Recent Keys' visualiser as their key name (e.g., 'Shift', 'Control').
Is my typing data stored?
No. Everything you type stays entirely within your browser. APluscalc does not collect, store, or transmit any keystroke data or text content. The counter resets when you refresh the page.
